Welcome to this introduction to the study of Paul's Letter to the Philippians. This on-line study allows you to do the study when it is convenient for you.  You will get the most out of this study by participating regularly and posting to the Discussion Boards.

Over a 9 week period we will look together a Paul's letter to the Philippians and see its message for us today. The following is an outline of studies you will do each week.

Each weeks study will have Scripture readings, notes on the main text we are studying and discussion questions. Associated with the discussion questions will be links to a Discussion Board for that question. To gain optimum benefit from this study you will need to join in these discussions.

Participation in this program will require about 1 to 2 hours per week. It is hoped you can join us for one of these exciting journeys as part of a group of fellow Christians on a journey of discovery. To enroll please click on the button below.

 

Week 1

This week you will look at the history of the city of Philippi and the formation of the church there. This will give you an understanding of Paul's relationship with the people of Philippi.

Week 1

This week you will start looking at the Philippians. You will see how Paul, even though he was in prison, is joyful in the Lord. You will also look into the nature of Paul's greetings in opening the letter and how you can bring the good news to those around you.

This week's reading in Philippians shows how Paul, even though living in extreme adversity lived life to the fullest. You will see that no matter what your situation you should be able to face life joyfully.

Paul saw Christ's humility and encouraged the Philippians to imitate Christ. This week you will look at what Paul says about how you can imitate Christ and so become united with Christ in your life.

This week you look at two examples Paul uses of people who are living a life Christ would be proud of.Paul shows us his love and devotion to Timothy and you will see what it means to be a caring person like the Philippians' emissary, Epaphroditus.

Paul continues in his letter to the Philippians with advice on how to live a life in Christ. This week you will learn what this means for us today and how you can enrich your life with this life-style.

It is important for us, despite all the distractions of our lives, to stay focused on our ultimate goal of living the life like Jesus showed us. In this week's study you will learn what Paul has to say about achieving this goal.

It is part of our human nature that we will have disagreements with others. This week's study shows what advice Paul gives to the Philippians and how to handle these issues so that we can live in harmony.

Week 1

This week sees the conclusions of our study of Philippians. You will see the culmination of Paul's advice on living in our community and how we can be contented with our lives not matter what we face.
